"Fisheries City Hakodate" city tour option

Contents:

This is an option to discover Hakodate, an international fishing city, through its history and unique cityscape.
Good plan to cover HAKODATE hotspots within a short time.

To participants of the tour 1, we will contact you for your choice from the following groups:
Group 1: Take ropeway to top of Mt. Hakodate
Group 2: Take bus to Hachiman Shrine
Please respond to us until 21st of November.

8:20-13:00

8:20: Depart from Hakodate Kokusai Hotel
8:30: Pickup at Hakodate Station
8:45: Arrive at Tachikawa House
  ⇒ Walk to see Hakodate Maru, Old Hakodate Nishi Police Station Building
9:10: Depart Tachikawa House
9:30: Arrive at Minatogaoka-dori
  ⇒ Walk to see Old Hakodate Ward Public Hall, Hachimanzaka, churches (about 600m walk)
10:00: Arrive at Mt. Hakodate Ropeway Station
  ⇒ Divide into two groups:
    ⇒ Group 1: Take ropeway to top of Mt. Hakodate
    ⇒ Group 2: Take bus to Hachiman Shrine
10:50: Group 2 departs Hachiman Shrine
11:00: Pick up Group 1 at Mt. Hakodate Ropeway Station
11:15: Arrive near Goryokaku Park
  ⇒ Free time at park
  ⇒ Optional visit to Hokuyo Museum
12:45: Depart from near Goryokaku Park
13:00: Arrive at Hakodate Station

"Hakodate" seafood supply chain option

Contents:

You will explore the supply chain of fisheries products and the new market economy that the city of Hakodate is looking for.
You can expect rare scenes with fisheries products and their market channels.

5:00-13:00

【Walking】
5:00: Meet in front of the Hakodate Fisheries Regional Wholesale Market Facility Entrance.
⇒ 5:30: morning auction viewing.
⇒ 7:00: End of tour.
⇒ 7:30 field explanation on efforts to utilise "new" fisheries resources in Hakodate.
⇒ 8:00 breakfast + stroll
⇒ 8:45 Hakodate Station set for the bus tour.

【Bus】
8:50 Depart from the Hakodate Kokusai Hotel.
⇒ 9:00 Pickup from Hakodate Station.
⇒ 9:10 Hakodate City International Fisheries and Marine Research Center: 1-hour facility tour with a short presentation and dock facility tour.
⇒ 10:30 Transfer.
⇒ 11:00 Nunome Factory HQ ( 4-17 Asano-cho, Hakodate, Hokkaido 040-0076) Arrival and sighting.
⇒ 12:30 After the tour, move on and return to the area around Hakodate Station by 13:00.

"Hakodate" Fisheries Academia option

Contents:

You can enjoy hands-on events with fisheries researchers and discover knowledge about fisheries and aquatic resource uses that is not included in the conference program.
An exciting plan to visit Hokkaido University HAKODATE/NANAE facilities and beautiful inter-mountain areas while having active content with faculty members.

9:30-16:00

【Morning】
9:30 Departure (bus: around Hakodate Station)
9:20 Depart from the Hakodate Kokusai Hotel.
⇒ 9:30 Pickup from Hakodate Station.
⇒ 10:00 Arrival at Hakodate campus: Campus facility tour (walk and talk with researchers)
⇒ 10:30 Guest Hakodate campus researchers will present

  1. Changes in Hakodate marine products
  2. Unused resources Utilization
  3. Scientific explanation and exchange about the freshness of local fish

11:30-13:00 Enjoy a lunch menu using introduced local products that also serve as a tasting.

【Afternoon】
Depart from the Hakodate campus at 13:30.
⇒ Arriving at Nanae Freshwater Experiment Station at 14:00.

  • Information and explanation of indoor and outdoor breeding facilities, explanation of breeding fish.
  • Egg collection experience.
  • Tasting of processed fish products produced from the facilities as snacks.

15:00 Depart from Nanae Experimental Station...
the bus will drive along the beautiful mountain and farming area that is changing its appearance for Hokkaido winter. On the way, via a roadside station and "Danshaku lounge", you can obtain rare local fisheries and farming products as souvenirs.
Arrive around Hakodate Station at 16:00.
